Thanks and Giving

We know you’re busy this week preparing for Thanksgiving, so our November newsletter will be brief, just a few words about “THANKS” and “GIVING.”

Thanks, dear donors, for giving to Humanity Now this year. Your generosity has allowed us to invest over $110,000 to 37 aid teams offering humanitarian assistance in Greece, Poland, Ukraine and, for the first time, the United States.

For millions of people in this country and the world, 2025 has been a hard year. Too many are hungry, sick, cold, and far from home and loved ones. We’ve heard many stories of heartbreak and suffering this year. In the United States, thousands of individuals have been arrested and detained. Countless children will spend the holidays without their moms or dads.

Humanity Now offers you a way to help. Can you donate to Humanity Now on Giving Tuesday. . . or even today? Because we’re an entirely volunteer-run organization, 100 percent of your tax-deductible donations will provide essential aid.

Here’s why some of our donors support Humanity Now:

“We donate to Humanity Now because they evaluate the organizations they fund and follow up with their contacts on the ground. Refugees often endure open hostility in a new country as well as incredible danger on their journey from their homelands. Humanity Now’s projects are aimed at making daily life more bearable for them. We trust and appreciate Humanity Now.”  —Judy and Dave

“Knowing we are making a difference in the lives of refugees who live in fear of arrest—families who have fled war-torn countries—is so important to us. We really want to help make the world a kinder, safer place and giving to Humanity Now is a big part of how we make that happen. We love that every dollar goes to benefit those who need it most.”  —Julie and Tom

We Recommend:

Immigrants bring tastes and aromas from their homelands that we can learn about and enjoy. Now that the weather is turning colder, the Somali spiced tea Shaah Cadys will warm you up. It’s easy to make and you can experiment with proportions as you like. In a spice grinder or mortar and pestle, crush an inch-long piece of fresh ginger, half a cinnamon stick, and a few whole cardamom pods and cloves. Add to tea (either lose or bagged) in a saucepan with water and simmer for 3-5 minutes. Add milk and sugar to taste, then strain into cups and enjoy!
