Can a new fridge make a difference? Yes, it can!
Humanity Now funding paid for a new professional refrigerator for Saffron Kitchen Project, an Athens nonprofit that provides up to 7,000 free nutritious meals every month to people in the refugee community. When we visited in the spring of 2024, Evalina Eskenazi, SKP’s founder, told us that they needed a new refrigerator to keep their produce cold and fresh during the summer months.
The team was really happy when the new appliance arrived, as you can see by their smiling faces. The fridge didn’t cost much money—only $2300—but it made a huge difference in their ability to support people in need in Athens. This project shows the power of small-scale, highly targeted funding in helping to provide humanitarian relief.
